On 16^th July 2016 at Kicukiro Parish, matrimony was conducted between a man called Gahamanyi Victor who tied a knot with a girl called Uwineza Claudine, who had come from China for her studies. Apparently, the first wife sued the husband, for having deserted her with four children, subsequently wanting the means of supporting her in the task of upbringing the children.

In an interview with Umusingi Newspaper on the 3^rd October 2016, Uwineza Godance had this to say, ‘’ My husband is there  in Rwanda, he lied to me that he was coming for a mission, thus collecting all the money we had saved together, which we had banked, thus disappearing in a thin air, thereafter to my surprise, I heard that he married a certain girl, it is out of this context I wonder as to whether there could be any religion that can conduct a matrimony Sacrament to a person who had earlier on got matrimony, where does such religion exist?.”

Another issue Uwineza highlights regards the birth place of her husband Gahamanyi Victor which is Kabarondo, and happens to be an Adventist (Seventh Day Adventist Church), how then comes that he opted for a matrimony Sacrament in a Catholic religious denomination? Don’t they first seek the information pertaining to the couple before matrimony?

Now that he deceived and the truth has surfaced, will he happily stay with his spinster?  Because he should be remitting the money for supporting his four children, one (1) boy and three(3) girls.

On the email page of Umusingi Newspaper, received a letter from another woman who is a friend to Uwineza, by the names of Kamagaju Diane, who categorically criticized Gahamanyi Victor, where she even advised girls in general in regard to the Kinyarwanda  cultural aspect to the extent whereby a married man with children comes and deceives them that he lives in Asia or America thereby concluding that he is a super-rich person or anticipating immense wealth from him, it isn’t true, this is what she had to say,  “Now that he deceived her, will he be able to support two(2) households?”.  After receiving information regarding Gahamanyi Victor, Umusingi Newspaper sought more information from him via his mobile telephone, but the line couldn’t pass through.

His first wife whom they had had matrimony with Uwineza Godance further told Umusingi Newspaper that he constantly changes his telephone numbers, because he is well aware that the police in Australia is looking for him, because he of deserting children, moreover when it is illegal in that country.

Umusingi Newspaper asked the spokesperson for The Catholic Church in Rwanda Bishop Phillippe Rukamba the reason why they carry out matrimony sacrament without thoroughly asking about their information, as well as what they do, as well as to what happens after realizing that one of them told lies, he said that if the Church later on discovers that one of the couple lied, they (Catholic Clergy) publish the information regarding the couple’s lies thereafter nullifying the matrimony.

Bishop Philipe Rukamba said that “We are going to investigate, if we find that the information is true, we will publish the information, thereby nullifying the matrimony, because moreover it is not the matrimony, because there can’t be a matrimony basing on a lie ”.

Umusingi Newspaper asked the ex-husband of Uwineza Godance on his mobile phone, on allegations that he might have his wife and children, he said that the children aren’t his lest saying that he had a mere love affair only. Gahamanyi Victor had this to say,  “The children aren’t mine, they have a father who is a Murundi, however, if that woman claims that the children are mine, she should better show you the children’s  birth certificates, as well as showing you the bank documents indicating that I withdrew her money, because if you happen to have had a legal marriage, it implies that you have a joint bank account, she should present to you all those documents”.

After hearing what Gahamanyi said, she again told Umusingi Newspaper that because Gahamanyi Victor had a plan of  re marrying without her knowledge, he stole all my documents so that he defend himself, nevertheless, he deceived himself, because there are some few of them  which I remained with , and he is known here, therefore he can’t lie about issues which are known to the people.

The information currently present at the desk of Umusingi Newspaper, suggests that Gahamanyi who lives in Australia is battling a legal case for the purpose of providing a support fee to cater for the children, and as a result, he has already started providing it.

If he claims that the children aren’t his, why is paying their upkeep fee?

It is out of this context that Umusingi Newspaper requested for the proof of what he claims, and he promised to avail the evidence to the Umusingi News Desk, nonetheless, until today, he hasn’t even sent single document to support his argument, which seem to suggest that he is telling lies, he might not be having them.

Another man by the names of Emily who lives in Australia through the mobile telephone conversation with Umusingi Newspaper, said that he read the information which had been published by the Newspaper, and said that Gahamanyi Victor was the husband to Godance Uwineza, saying that they were neighbors, adding that having lied to her that he was going for a mission, thereafter to our surprise heard that he had married another woman, we were overwhelmed by surprise, as if that isn’t enough, he is disowning his own children.
