Neymar has told Paris Saint-Germain he has no intention of playing for the club again as the Brazilian looks to complete a return to former club Barcelona.

The Ligue 1 giants broke the world transfer record for Neymar in 2017 when they triggered a £199.5million release clause in the forward’s contract.

Neymar was attracted by the chance of becoming the face of the club in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence but he quickly found a club that was pale into comparison to Barcelona. The Brazilian was far from impressed by the lack of competition in Ligue 1 and bemused by playing in front of crowds of less than 20,000 people.

Neymar also clashed with Edinson Cavani over who should take the club’s penalties and the Brazilian’s been sidelined for Champions League knockout matches against Real Madrid and Manchester United.

According to Sport, Neymar can’t help but compare the club with Barcelona and now regrets his decision to leave the Camp Nou. It’s claimed the Brazilian has told PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he is unhappy and that he no longer wants to play for the club.

Al-Khelaifi confirmed last week that he would speak to the Brazilian about his future and hinted he would be sold. ‘I want players willing to give everything to defend the honour of the jersey and to join the club project,’ Al-Khelaifi told France Football. ‘Those who do not want that, or do not understand, we will meet and we will talk to each other. ‘Nobody forced him to sign here. Nobody pushed him. ‘He came knowingly to join a project.’
